If it was practical for me to do so, I'd consider it. But to catch a train to Denver, I either have to drive 3 hours to Omaha or take a train for 8 hours to Chicago. and then turn around and head back to Omaha and then Denver. Fortunately, that line spends the entire trip through Nebraska at night in both directions (and I've been told it's a 90mph train through most of NE)

And then there's the small matter of getting down to Colorado Springs once you get to Denver.

I may drive it and drop the wife and kids off at Grandma's on the way.

I would not do it for the roundtable as I have no plans to attend. But if you have never taken Amtrak I encourage you to do so. Spring of 07 my family and I took the train from Dallas to Chicago. It was about 24 hours but we really enjoyed it. The cost of flying was about the same once you factored in we had 2 nights on the train we would have had to be in a hotel room. One thing to keep in mind on the train though, forget the schedule and pad each way as much as you can. It seems the schedule is just a "suggestion". :)
